Until today, the problem of the larynx in children in the Republic of Kazakhstan was one of the main unresolved as incurable pathologies of ENT organs. The larynx is the most vulnerable organ, equipped with a large blood supply, loose mucosa, which is the most favorite place for the growth and recurrence of viral papillomas in children. Papillomas are benign formations with a certain risk of developing a malignant tumor of the larynx in the future.
Few people know that the Aksai University Clinic only deals with the removal and treatment of laryngeal papillomas, which has only a temporary effect. Due to the lack of proper specialized equipment, our capabilities were limited. Many children were forced to go abroad, if possible, some at their own expense, some with the help of charitable foundations to find a solution to the treatment of the disease.
Treatment of laryngeal pathology is long-term and multi-stage, individual for each patient, depending on the etiology. Children from all regions of the Republic, aged 6-7 months and older, come to our clinic.
At the expense of gratuitous assistance to our clinic by the Private Charitable Foundation named after Askara Zhakulina, in December 2016, a specialist was trained at Xinjiang Medical University in laryngeal pathology, equipment from leading manufacturers was purchased – DEKA (Italy), Medtronic (USA), Karl STORZ (Germany) – CO2 innovative laser device based on the point effect of a light beam, which promotes rapid recovery mucosa, microdebrider – it allows for gentle and selective resection of polyps, papillomas, without damaging healthy tissues, and of course a modern kit for laryngosurgery (all kinds of forceps, nozzles, scissors, suction, etc.). In addition, comfortable working conditions for surgeons have been created (air conditioning and tinted double-glazed windows are installed in the operating room) and a Master class conducted by a doctor from Xinjiang Medical University indicates a comprehensive and systematic approach to our problematic issues.
The administration of the Aksai University Hospital expresses its deep gratitude to the Private Charitable Foundation named after him. Askara Zhakulina for the assistance provided not only to the clinic, but also from the parents of a 3-month-old baby girl who underwent timely surgery abroad, due to the sponsorship of the Foundation. The Foundation’s staff responded to our common problem without hesitation, felt the pain of parents and suffering children, and decided to help all patients with laryngeal pathology in need without leaving our country.
